Community organizations

Help community members put research between a promise and a payment.

Extend your financial-capability and adult-learning work with a practical resource for examining online opportunities. Through your organization’s support, PauseThePitch™ gives community members free access to a research-first portal that we provide and maintain.

For community-based support

A resource that can sit beside coaching and education.

01

Give people a place to pause

Community members can examine a side-hustle, coaching, or paid-course offer before making a commitment.

02

Support informed conversations

The report supplies questions a participant may choose to discuss with a coach, educator, or trusted adviser.

03

Extend your outreach

Agreed remote access lets people use the resource beyond a workshop, appointment, or visit to your center.

A practical example

A work-from-home offer brought to a financial coach

Illustrative use case: a participant in a financial-wellness program is considering a paid work-from-home package. They have a promotional page but little detail about the actual work or ongoing costs. The portal helps them organize the offer before their next coaching conversation.

  • What is being purchased, and what remains the participant’s responsibility?
  • Are earnings claims supported by evidence relevant to a beginner?
  • What additional costs, conditions, or time commitments need clarification?

This is a consumer-education use case, not a promised savings result. The resource does not determine benefits eligibility, replace financial coaching, or guarantee that a participant avoids a loss.

Why research matters

Reported losses give the problem context.

Online opportunities range from useful offers to unsupported claims. A persuasive video or landing page is a reason to examine the evidence, not proof that an offer is good or bad.

$751 millionapproximately, in reported business and job opportunity fraud losses in 2024
Nearly $250Mincrease in reported losses in that category from 2023 to 2024
$90M → $501Mreported job and employment-agency scam losses, 2020–2024

Historical context: the FTC reported $750.6 million in the broader 2024 category, rounded here to $751 million. The job and employment-agency figures are a subcategory, not an additional amount. Reports do not measure all affected people or time lost. These statistics are not a measure of PauseThePitch’s effectiveness and do not imply FTC endorsement. How it works

Make access fit the community you already serve.

  1. Choose the service populationDefine a 12-month partnership for a community center, nonprofit program, or an agreed citywide or countywide population.
  2. Confirm the funding arrangementIdentify the organization or sponsor responsible for the service, then agree on scope and the processing allowance.
  3. Review privacy and the portalSet retention, reporting, printing, and saving choices. Your team reviews the configured experience before it opens to participants.
  4. Introduce it through your channelsShare the portal through workshops, newsletters, or coaching resources. We operate and maintain the platform while you manage your community relationships.
Scope and controls

Serve a program cohort or a wider community.

Program-specific access

Start with the people served by a financial-capability, adult-learning, employment-support, or community-action program.

Citywide or countywide reach

A geographic partnership can include residents at home and multiple participating locations within the agreed area.

Privacy-conscious reporting

Agree on aggregate activity summaries and retention settings. Identifiable participant data is not required for the institutional portal.

A sustainable allowance

Define the processing allowance and how changes are approved. Geographic reach is separate from the volume of AI processing funded.

Common questions

Before you decide.

Is this a replacement for a financial-literacy curriculum?

No. It is a practical research tool that can complement workshops, coaching, and other educational resources. It does not claim to be an accredited course or award a credential.

Can a sponsor pay for access through our organization?

Yes, if your organization accepts that arrangement and the agreement defines the funding responsibilities. Sponsor support must not influence research results.

Can residents use it without visiting our center?

Yes, if the agreed access model includes them. A citywide or countywide partnership can include at-home access for residents throughout that area.

Will usage reports prove our program’s impact?

Reports can describe agreed measures of activity. They do not automatically prove improved literacy, money saved, or other outcomes; any evaluation approach should distinguish participation from impact.

Does the organization need technical staff?

No programming or platform maintenance is required. PauseThePitch provides and maintains the portal; your organization chooses the scope and how to introduce the service.

Research support, with clear limits.

PauseThePitch uses AI-assisted analysis to organize claims, costs, assumptions, evidence gaps, risk indicators, and questions for further research. Reports can be incomplete or mistaken; important facts need independent verification. This is an educational resource, not financial, legal, tax, or investment advice, a seller certification, or a guarantee of outcomes. See our editorial standards and privacy policy.

A practical next step

Explore an access model for your community.

Request a one-page overview tailored to your program, population, and possible funding route. We start with an annual partnership; a smaller pilot can be discussed when a year is not yet workable.
